Once a joinery package is approved, the next step is manufacturing — the phase where drawings become physical products. From CNC cutting to final packaging, the process is driven by precision and repeatability.

1. CNC Cutting

Modern joinery relies on CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to cut panels with millimetre accuracy. This ensures:

• Repeatable quality across multiple units

• Clean, square edges

• Accurate cut-outs for sinks, handles, and hardware

Panels are typically cut from MDF, particleboard, or plywood substrates.

2. Drilling and Routing

After cutting, each panel is drilled or grooved for:

• Dowels and screw holes

• Hinges and runners

• Cable or plumbing allowances

This process is often automated for consistency.

3. Edge Banding

To protect raw board edges, edge banding is applied using heat and pressure. Choices include:

• ABS or PVC edge tape (durable and wipeable)

• Timber veneer for natural finishes

• Colour-matched edge for a seamless look

Strong edge banding helps resist chipping and moisture.

4. Cabinet Assembly

Panels are then assembled into carcasses (the cabinet bodies) either manually or by automated systems. At this stage, installers may:

• Pre-fit hardware (hinges, runners)

• Double-check sizing and alignment

• Apply internal finishes

Some joinery is shipped flat-packed for transport efficiency.

5. Quality Control & Packaging

Each item is inspected for defects, grain direction, finish quality, and correct labelling. Proper packaging is critical to protect corners, surfaces, and panels in transit — especially for high-end veneers or painted finishes.
